The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives schools additional funding to support year 7 pupils. Schools receive £500 for each pupil in year 7 who did not achieve at least level 4 in reading or maths at the end of KS2. All schools have to report on how this money was spent, as well as the impact of the premium to those pupils who are eligible.

As part of the Olympic Legacy, the government is providing additional funding to improve provision of physical education and sport in primary schools.  This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in school. The Department for Education provides a framework for what the Sports Funding should achieve; but how the money is used is the decision of each individual school. In September 2017, the government announced that sports funding for schools would be doubled.
